We were due to be here last week, the weekend of the 5th, but I had asked to move our booking back a week and were at Tabletop Scotland last week instead.
We set off from windy and rainy Glasgow and headed off via the M73/M80/M876 and M90, we passed through some rain but by the time we got there not long after 6pm, it was dry and pleasant in Tayport.
We had originally booked the only hardstanding pitch, but with the change, we were on a grass pitch (8), nice big pitch and we levelled up, plugged in and headed out for a wander into the town.
We headed out the way we came in, and then onto the riverside walk, past the harbour and into the centre of Tayport, there’s not a huge amount to it, but it’s very close to the Tay Road Bridge into Dundee.
We had the makings of sausage, beans and mash in the van, but we were hungry and the smell of food got to us so we popped into the “Bell Rock Tavern”.
The food was excellent, and very reasonable, I had the “Chicken Tikka Chasni” which is a favourite in Glasgow, but can be pretty random elsewhere, but this was very nice.
Gayle went for the Chicken passanda - spicier than expected but tasty, and we shared a large Peshwari nan which was fantastic along with some Pilau Rice.
Back to the van via Co-Op for chocolate and Gaviscon and custard.
An early morning had taken its toll and we were asleep by around 9:30pm
Saturday 13th September 2025
Woke at 7:40 we got up and went for a walk, wanting eggs for an omelette for breakfast,
We wandered for a bit, and then went to the local shop, but it wasn’t quite open and so we headed back round to the Co-Op and picked up eggs and empire biscuits and ham and coleslaw.
Breakfast was a tasty sausage and mushroom omelette and after that it was on with the walking kit and off along the riverside towards Tentsmuir.
It’s a great walk, on the way back you are on the Fife coastal path, lots of different fungi on the side of the forest path.
We popped into the local Links shop and grabbed cold drinks and a bit of chocolate or crisps.
Back for a spot of relaxing and then, around 5pm, the skies darkened and lightning, thunder and heavy rain for an hour - glad we weren’t in a tent.
While it wasn’t as crazy as Coldstream it was chucking it down for a bit, but we were cosy.
Out with the air-fryer and sausage and mash with cheesy beans in the van again…definitely cosy food in the van.
To round out our evening, we finally watched “Dark City” together…it’s been a while since I last watched it (on DVD) but the HD version looks so good.
Fortunately for me (I’ve advocated watching it for a long time), Gayle enjoyed it…
Sunday 14th September 2025
We woke around 7am to a beautiful morning, blue skies and not much wind at all, so before breakfast we set off for a wander into town via the promenade and coastal path.
The river Tay was beautifully calm and it looked very picturesque. We tood watching a cormorant fishing in the harbour and birds diving into the water.
After that, we popped into the Harbour Cafe for breakfast, we both had scrambled eggs on toast, with either sausage or black pudding, really good breakfasts all round.
After that it was back to the van to finish packing up and set off back to Glasgow…we’ll likely be back to Larick.
