Pebble Bank Holiday Park

Monday 7th July 2025

It rained heavily overnight, fortunately we had packed most things away and so we didn’t have to dry much off, the screen cover did have to get packed away wet.

We were up and in the shower by around 7am, it was a pretty grim looking morning, rainy and windy, the weather was due to pick up over the rest of the week so we weren’t too upset.

We had porridge again for breakfast and packed up to head on to our next site.

We popped into Weymouth Sainsburys for some essential supplies and to kill some time, by this time it was scorching hot sunshine but also pretty windy.

We arrived at Pebble Bank holiday park around 12:15 and pitched up on Pitch 1, we had a perfect view of the fleet end of Chesil Beach, looking over towards Weymouth and Portland.

It was hot and windy so we put the awning, carpet and windbreak out, as usual inflating the windbreak was harder than it looks and we didn’t get the valves closed and so it was the usual “why isn’t this inflating” until we finally got it right.

After our exertions we popped into the Fat Badger for Limoncello spritzes and I had a steak sandwich with chimmichuri and Gayle had a Croque Madame with a bowl of fries, both meals were very tasty and the spritz was nice and cold and lemony - perfect for a hot summers day.

Back to the van for some relaxation time, and we had a couple of cans of Campervan Brewery Radler beers which are very nice.

The high winds continued all afternoon and into the evening.

Dinner was a very simple chorizo quiche, cheesy slaw and boiled potatoes with salad dressing, very tasty and appropriate for the heat and rounded out with a great pistachio tiramisu (acquired in Sainsburys) for dessert.

Tuesday 8th July 2025

Up relatively late today, breakfast of bacon and eggs on a roll (leftovers from the other day) cooked on the Trangia, the firebox gas stove with diffuser does a great job of evening out the heating in a Trangia.

We walked along the Coast Path towards Weymouth and then into the town via Nothe Fort, it’s a nice walk alongside the beach, and back into town, it was very hot in the sun tho'.

After the fort, we wandered along the promenade into the town centre, it’s very nice.

We popped into “Belle’s Cream Cakes - the pink bakery” for two of their spectacular walnut and cherry buns which were great, worth every penny.

Bring a water bottle to Weymouth!! Several water filling points.

We went for an hour long tour of the harbour on a boat which was fine, no protection from the sun which I regretted later, we went out as far as the edge of the very large harbour, it was good to see.

For lunch we popped into The Cheese Rack and had a toasted panini each and a bottle of wine, very nice indeed.

After that we wandered back to the site which was a 50 minute walk in the hot sun - it was even windier than yesterday and the awning and wind break were struggling so we ended up packing them away.

Dinner was a nice van cooked pasta and air fryer dough balls, as always quick, easy and tasty.

The wind died down a fair bit by this point, and it was time to wash the dishes and watch a bit of TV before bed.

Wednesday 9th July 2025

We were up around 7am and straight into the shower, facilities are pretty good.

A nice light breakfast of cereal with strawberries.

Spent time relaxing and reading, warm, sunny but with a strong breeze off the sea.

Chorizo, salami and leerdammer toasties for lunch with a nice Blueberry Sour or Aspalls, the RidgeMonkey does help to make a great toastie!

Sat out in the shade of the rollout awning for most of the afternoon, it was too hot to do much else - later we popped to the Fat Badger for dinner.

I had the beetroot and feta starter and Gayle had tomato soup (which came with a cheese toastie) both were very good.

I opted for the chicken burger for dinner which came with amazing fries, it was very nice and Gayle opted for Fish and Chips - haddock which apparently wasn’t very good…

The restaurant was very busy (on a Wednesday evening)

We returned to the van and watched an episode of FUBAR and an episode of Silicon Valley until bedtime.

As we were sitting watching TV a beautiful full moon rose into the sky over the Jurassic Coast - worth running out for some snaps.
