Saturday 28th September 2024
We woke around 5am and chatted for a bit before going back to sleep and woke again just before 8am
Very nice facilities, Gayle immediately put it up for facilities of the year.
They have four self contained toilet and shower units, nice and warm, great showers, and very clean.
It was a grey morning, the sky was very much all one colour.
We headed off for a walk to Clach Mackenney which is a nice walk up through the forest to the nearest trig point.
I had hoped that we could see both the Gare Loch and Loch Long from the point, but not quite because of the trees.
It’s only 200m but still worth the walk through the forest, you get good views of Loch Long and Ardentinny, which is on our (very) long list of places to visit.
We sat and had a snack and took some photos the sky was clearing but I could see rain moving across Loch Long from the west headed in our direction.
We headed back down the route we came in, only passed on the entire journey by three mountain bikers.
Unfortunately the rain came on quite heavily so from skies that were turning blue to heavy rain in the space of a few minutes.
We got back and wandered around the site a bit more, really nice, there was a family fun day on, so it was quite lively.
A light lunch of cheese biscuits and cheese and salami.
We headed down to the lochside for some golden hour photography, watching the rain moving across the loch and the moored boats.
Back to the on-site bar but it was very busy and we ordered a takeaway pizza and chips which was ok.
