Robin Hood's Bay

Saturday 14th September 2024

We were up late, didn’t fancy breakfast in the van so we headed off to the local shop for rolls (the on-site shop didn’t have any) and ended up in the centre of Whitby.

We popped into the Cornish Bakery again for breakfast, their cheese and bacon croissants are amazing and I had a slice of Cornish pudding, I enjoyed both.

Gayle had a raspberry and white chocolate bronut, apparently it was a bit dry, but she loved the bacon and cheese croissant.

We then jumped on a pirate themed boat for a ride along the beach, just 20mins but good fun and the captain got us round the sonar to see a couple of sunken wrecks which was really interesting.

Whitby was coming alive, it was getting busy, and the pubs were looking lively.

It was a dark overcast morning so, on a whim we jumped the bus to Robin Hood’s bay which is just 20mins away.

We wandered down the hill into the beautiful town nestled against the cliff.

Lunch at “The Quarter Deck”, a Brie, honey and walnut toasted panini which was really good. Gayle had a fantastic fresh egg mayo sandwich, the milkshakes weren’t great, but as we sat the sun came out.

Robin Hood’s Bay is a beautiful unspoilt place, all local shops and a few places to eat and drink.

We both really like it.

Back on the bus, a stop off at the Co-Op, then the Cornish Bakery for breakfast supplies and The Yorkshire deli for more flapjacks and back along the promenade.

The weather had definitely changed and the waves were a lot calmer, we sat on the cliff top watching folks surfing below.

It was nice and relaxing and peaceful.

Back to the van which is a nice walk along the road, it was warm and not particularly windy.

A tasty M&S curry with rice and nans for dinner, our last night in the van on this trip.
