In Stoker's Footsteps

Friday 13th September 2024

Up late, slept well, back a bit better.

Our favourite breakfast in the van, cherry yoghurt with dark chocolate granola.

Beautiful blue skies and wind had dropped a bit.

Walked into town and started the treasure trail “Bram Stoker’s Whitby”, the Treasure Trails were a gift from Gayle, and they’re definitely worth it and a great way to get around, and fun too we found none of the clues were too hard to find.

On our walk we wandered into The Yorkshire Deli and picked up a black treacle flapjack, really tasty and great texture.

Completed our Treasure trail at the Abbey, the steps aren’t actually too bad, even with a sore back, and it’s worth it for the views of the town and coastline.

Visited many of the same spots we discovered last night, Gayle had highlighted the Moon and Sixpence on the quayside for lunch.

We both had a pint of Aspalls cider to quench our thirst, and I opted for their pork belly with bbq sauce, really nice sauce, sweet and spicy. Gayle opted for the chicken and ranch dressing.

Accompanying these we had a bowl of their Philly cheese steak fries.

All the food was delicious, the fries were missing peppers and onions which are a staple of Philly cheese steaks…but they were very cheesy.

We wandered back to the site and sat out in the hot sun reading and the temperature dropped quickly around 5pm and we headed inside.

Dinner was a light pasta with a very nice bread from the Yorkshire Deli.
