Up and prepping to head on from Kip and Nook.
We had problems with our cassette toilet, I suspect it was jarred during the drive from Castle Howard and we needed to do a bit of cleaning.
Again it was sunny, cold and windy, but dry!
We left just after 11am to head to Whitby via Catterick.
Gayle wanted to head to Saltburn-on-Sea but we couldn’t get parked up at the car park which is listed on Brit Stops.
I did notice that the carpark had a toilet disposal point, which is handy to know.
We were early for the next site, so we stopped for lunch just down the road overlooking Sandsend Beach and had some of our stash from Malton, the tea cakes with cheese and ham and chutney, which were really great.
On to Sandfield Farm campsite, lovely site with sea views but not particularly level pitches and not ideal for a nose-down van like the Peugeot boxer.
Even at the top of our levelling blocks we were still walking up and downhill in the van despite Gayle’s best efforts.
It was bright, cold and windy so we Walked into Whitby along the promenade, the sea was roiling and white but it is a really nice (if cold) walk.
Whitby is lovely, we wandered all around the promenade and harbour area and it wasn’t particularly busy.
We didn’t cross the bridge into the old town leading up to the Abbey, but picked up a pistachio and cherry and almond croissant in the Cornish Bakery for a snack, very tasty!
We headed back to the van and had our butchers purchase from Malton on Tuesday, peppercorn beef rolls and a beef truffle with a veg mix and mash, good to have a nice simple meal in the van.
