Lancashire Canal

Saturday 7th September 2024

We were just up just after eight to beautiful blue skies, as is normal in September it was a wee bit chilly first thing, but the forecast was for a warm day.

We had a light breakfast of some leftover teacakes brought from home, toasted with our tea.

We packed the camera and headed off along the canal, it’s not in great condition but it’s a nice walk in the hot sun and very easily accessible from the campsite.

We took plenty of photos, with the water and tree cover providing some interesting challenges.

It was hot, and there was a fair distance to the next town, so we walked a couple of miles down the canal, then turned and walked back.

We had a very relaxing afternoon sitting outside reading, lunch was hog roast bites and chicken skewers.

I’m reading Alastair Moffat’s The Hidden Ways which is I’m really enjoying. Gayle is reading “The Bass Rock”.

Dinner was beef burritos which were really nice with sangria and we sat outside to eat which is a novelty.

In fact, it was so warm that we sat out ‘til after 9pm.

There was entertainment in the form of a late arrival setting up a trailer tent which took a long time, admittedly it looked pretty good when setup but it was a fair bit of work.
