Return to Elie

Friday 23rd August 2024

We followed a well-trodden path east towards Fife for the third time this year, through Kincardine and along the A985 towards the East Neuk.

The weather forecast wasn’t great, with warnings of rain and wind, and if I’m honest, we were a bit nervous about going here after we’d wandered through it en-route from Silverburn Park to Elie and Earlsferry.

We didn’t really know what to expect, back in July it was very busy, but it is on the Fife Coastal Path route and we love the area…and we were looking for a long relaxing weekend.

After we’d pitched up on C13 we had a wander around it was pretty windy.

We were very much warming to the site, the beach is right at the edge of the site, and it seemed to be mostly large seasonal caravans with only a few motorhomes and campervans, no road noise at all as it’s quite far off the main road.

We headed over towards the on-site restaurant but it was fully booked and we wandered round to the cafe which is right next-door and ordered a meat feast pizza and chips with milk-shakes to accompany and took them back to the van (you can eat in the cafe) and had our dinner.

I enjoyed the pizza, but Gayle found it a bit doughy.

We were both exhausted, the in-van internet connection wasn’t doing so well, so we ended up reading until we passed out.
