Loch Tay walk

Saturday 10th August 2024

We were up around 8am with chorizo and pepper omelette for breakfast, I was awakened around 1:30am by very heavy rain.

We pulled out walking gear on and headed off towards the head of Loch Tay

It’s a very nice walk especially on the shore of the loch, looking back towards Ben Lawers and Beinn Ghlas.

After our walk around the head of the loch, we walked back through Killin, past the Falls of Dochart, which were in good flow.

After that, we headed towards the Kinnell standing stone circle, then back into town via the Dochart viaduct.

We had a really nice lunch in Shutters, Gayle had pea nd mint soup with a tuna mayo toastie, and I opted for their cauliflower cheese soup with a pastrami, pickles and emmenthal toastie.

My soup was really nice, definite celery notes made for a really nice soup, and the toastie was great.

We opted to take away slices of coffee cake and raspberry bakewell.

Back to the site with the weather all over the place, bright sunshine and rain at the same time.

Into the van and the rain became more persistent so we ended up spending our afternoon reading and resting.

By early evening, we were hungry so we headed out to an uninspiring Co-op and picked up some hotdogs for dinner.

We had a nice dinner, and then watched some Monk and Cheers and then made up the bed and passed out.
