Up early omelette with ham, peppers and mushrooms, again great van breakfast, really easy to make in the Cadac paella pan.
We donned our walking gear and headed for the the sea wall.
It was windy and sunny, but we could see rain clouds coming up fast, and just as we got to the end of the outer break water, it started to rain heavily, we moved quite quickly, but got pretty wet.
Walking further round the path, we spotted lots of tiny frogs heading for the water, the trail was absolutely covered in them, presumably leaving a nearby pond and heading for the nature reserve.
We had lunch in the Trackside cafe in Millom, tasty lunch, ham and cheese sandwich and fries with bacon, peppers and onions and very nice cheese sauce.
Gayle had a tuna baguette with loaded fries, sweet chilli and cheese sauce, again very nice.
We returned to the van, and had ice cream from the on-site cafe. Gayle had coconut and raspberry and mint chocolate chip and I had strawberry and lemon and crème brûlée, all very nice.
We sat and read in the sun, with the awning out, the sun was hot, very different to yesterday.
At 5pm, we set off into an increasingly nice evening to the local farm shop, which was serve yourself, we picked up strawberry milk, fruited tea cakes and caramel oaty slice.
Very much worth the short walk, and they had so much stuff, sausages and veg and other things at good prices.
We popped into the Harbour Hotel for a cold cider and ended up staying for three, the music and atmosphere was great, mostly working guys having a post work pint or several, very friendly, we really enjoyed it.
It was a beautiful evening when we left, sadly the chippie was closed (yeah, they close early in England, I can’t imagine a chippie closing in Scotland at 7:30pm) on a Friday.
We were also too late for the pizza van that was parked outside the site.
Back to the van where we had a bit of the caramel oaty slice, which was spectacular.
Beautiful end to a great day.
