We were up late, headed to Country Harvest ostensibly to buy rolls for the sausages we bought yesterday, but their cafe proved enticing, and I had their full English and Gayle had her favourite: toast, scrambled egg and black pudding, both were very tasty, and my coffee was really good too.
We got ready for a walk and wandered into Ingleton for the waterfalls trail, we had planned to pop into the village kitchen for a packed sandwich, but it was closed, so we wandered round to the Seasons Bakery again and picked up supplies.
We paid our £10 each for the waterfalls trail, and we headed up the climbing path, past the waterfalls up to the top of the hill, the falls get progressively better and it’s a great walk, only occasionally spoiled by a horde of midges or school kids.
Thornton Force waterfall is the highlight, and it was picturesquely painted by the sun, and has roughly hewn seating, but it was busy and we wanted to get on.
We ate our Seasons Bakery haul at Falls Park, a lamb and vegetable pasty for me, and a cheese and onion slice for Gayle, very, very tasty.
We wandered down the other side a bit quicker, all in all we took around 2hrs45 to do the full journey, including our lunch stop.
You come out of the falls walk in town, and we fancied a cold pint of cider, but alas to no avail, the pubs were closed and not opening ‘til later.
Back to the van and the awning was still there, so a nice can of Six North framboise with a fruity flapjack from the Seasons bakery to rest and recover.
Dinner was a bbq with the food we bought at Booths - sausages, Thai chicken skewers, and a couple of burgers, lamb and caramelised onion, accompanied by some cous cous and slaw, very tasty.
