Around a 2 hour drive beautiful weather, straight down the M74 then M6 and onto the A592 and we arrived in the small village of Pooley Bridge.
It had been warm all week, and we needed the van air conditioning for this one.
We were staying at Hillcroft Park, which is a sprawling site, with tent camping, motorhome and campervan pitches, glamping pods and static caravans overlooking Ullswater.
The site is just outside the village and we pitched up on C43, which is a nice fairly secluded pitch, handy for the facilities block, and overlooking one of the big tent areas.
We had big plans to cook dinner, but the heat and a Pizza Van onsite changed things a bit and I was dispatched to investigate, a tuna and a pepperoni pizza were duly ordered and I returned to have a drink and seat while we waited for dinner.
The pizzas were great, really light and crispy, and definitely satisfying, recommended!
After that we went for a walk into Pooley Bridge, it’s just outside the site and has several nice looking food and beer places.
We wandered down as a far as the river, it was a beautiful evening, the moon was high in the sky, and the beer gardens were full.
It was after 9pm when we got back, and we opted to sit inside and catch up on YouTube and then crash.
