We woke late to light rain, it was “going home day” and you could see it all around the site, with caravans and awnings being packed away all over.
It rained quite heavily overnight, these are the weekends I’m glad we have a campervan and not a tent.
Gayle baked some “fresh” cinnamon swirls, these were great, and we’d buy them again, really nice with a good cup of coffee.
We didn’t have to be off-site ’til 12pm, but we had a 2hr plus drive home, and the weather wasn’t great, so we got packed up too, and headed home, via Ayr.
It’s a nice drive through the forests, and winding roads of Southern Scotland, and by the time we popped out at the coast (near Girvan) the weather was definitely a bit drier.
We popped into Ayr for lunch, parking up on the sea front, I misunderstood the car parking rules, and we ended up paying for a night’s stay (£10) when we didn’t have to, it’s free to park in the motorhome spaces during the day (and the car spaces too), the spaces are great, and there were plenty of vans taking advantage of the spaces.
We’d been in Tempura last year when we stayed at Ayr Craigie Gardens, and it was definitely worth heading into Ayr for, their mac and cheese with tempura and fries is great!
The weather had definitely taken a turn for the better in Ayr, it was sunny and warm (so warm we had to close the front blinds).
