Burgers in Shrewsbury

Tuesday 23rd January 2024

Gayle wanted to visit Shrewsbury, so we were up and had a light breakfast of pancakes, strawberries and cherry yoghurt.

We wandered down to get the train to Shrewsbury, it was a miserable morning, dark and wet, another storm was heading in.

First stop was the Shrewsbury Market Hall, really nice, it was just opening up as we arrived, so we picked out some places to take a look in later.

We wandered down to the River Severn through Dingle Park, the river was sitting pretty high here, looks like it would be a really lovely place in summer.

We wandered on through the old town centre, it’s very attractive, lots of old buildings and nice curving streets, we wandered down to the “English Bridge”, we had wanted to wander along the river for a bit, but the river was so high that the path was flooded just past Abbey Gardens.

So, we walked back up the High Street in search of something to eat, I’d spotted “The Beefy Boys” on our way down the High Street, and we stumbled in out of the rain.

I had the PBJ burger, with Bacon Jam and Peanut Butter, and it was fantastic, the peanut butter provided interesting flavour and texture, and the bacon jam was really nice on top.

Gayle had their OG burger which was delicious too, and we shared a bowl of their bacon fries with nacho cheese, the nacho cheese in particular was great.

I had their banana shake with rum, and Gayle had their bueno baby (chocolate hazelnut) shake with Frangelico.

A great lunch, and so, well fed, we wandered back down to the Shrewsbury market hall, and picked up some goodies.

We headed back to the train station for a train back to Chirk, we really enjoyed Shrewsbury.
