We set off in the rain for our first ever trip to Wales.
We fuelled up at Moffat en-route and then stopped at Tebay, the southbound services is a bit smaller than the northbound setup, but the rain was so heavy we didn’t get out of the van, we had picked up sandwiches in the Co-Op at Moffat so that we could stop for a shorter time if we had to, and that turned out to be the right decision based on the rivers of water running down the ramps at the service station.
We arrived at the site around 4pm, having set off around 9:30am, with a couple of stops for sandwiches and fuel.
The site feels modern, it was fully refurbished over 2022 and the facilities block looks really nice, we pitched up round the back of the facilities block
The computer system was down when we arrived, not quite sure what’s happening.
There are only a few vans on site, clearly January is only for the hardiest of campers and caravanners.
Walked into Chirk, down past the train station, not a lot to it, there’s a Spar and a Co-Op and some wee shops and a few bars/restaurants, it was dark tho'.
I had cleaned out the fridge ar home to use up on our week away, so we prepared a red-pepper pesto chicken and pasta dinner.
Storm Isha is due to hit tomorrow, so we plan to get a nice Sunday lunch before it hits.
