Masham Sheep fair

Saturday 30th September 2023

Up late, had a light breakfast and we started the leaves walk, but the sheep fair was in full swing and too attractive.

The town was mobbed, and we wandered around had a coffee and caramel cake from one of the stalls.

We caught the Sheep Show which was both interesting and entertaining.

Waited in a very long queue for a burger from the Swinton Estate van, and honestly, it was worth it, a really tasty burger!

Washed down with a cider from the Masham Cider Press, Gayle wasn’t keen on this tho’, mine was pretty good.

There was a really nice atmosphere in the town, and we got to see the sheep being judged, and racing around, a fun day out for families and curious travellers.

We weren’t coming for the sheep fair, we picked Masham because of the two brewers in town.

Gayle had booked us a tour of the Black Sheep brewery, which was very knowledgeably delivered by Alan, from what I could see they weren’t brewing, but they did have some beer in the fermenters.

After the tour, we got to try their beers, and they were good, I opted for the flight of three third pints:

  • Stout
  • IPA
  • Black sheep ale

After the beer tour, we couldn’t get food at the brewery, and wandered the town in the rain, but no room at the inns, so popped into Co-Op and picked up some bits for dinner.

Back to the van, and we rewatched the most recent Dungeons and Dragons film, and passed out.
